To truly unwind!

Are you sick of jostling for a spot in a ride? Or tired of selfie sticks bobbing about everything that is “Instagram worthy”? Then you need to pack your bag and head to Chandelao Village.

One, Chandelao is a secluded wonderland that’s for everyone and anyone who seeks peace and solace.

Truly unwind 2

Two, this hamlet is far or even ages away from the tentacles of technology. So, rest assured that you will be able to go on a complete digital detox on this journey.

Three, we all might live in the city, but our heart belongs in the villages. At one point in time, all of us have thought about living a slow-paced village life. With a trip to Chandelao, this dream can turn into reality.

If you are a true peace seeker, we are sure the reasons mentioned above would be enough to get you here. However, if you are unsure, we are confident our reason number two will win your heart.

Homestay at Chandelao Garh

Chandelao Garh Homestay

“Atithi Devo Bhava” isn’t just a quote from Sanskrit that translates to “Guest is God”, it is a feeling that makes Rajasthani Hospitality elite. And that is precisely what you should expect from a homestay in Chandelao.

Mind it! This homestay won’t be like anything that you have ever experienced. So, forgo the thought that it will be a regular homestay.

In fact, in classic Rajasthani fashion, it will be as regal as it can get. With this homestay, you will get to live in an 18th-century Rajput style Haveli with the landowners of the area.

Home stay Chandelao Garh 2

Talking about the Haveli, to even say that the Haveli is gorgeous is an understatement. On entering its premises, you feel like walking into a different world. There are beautiful stone archways, lush green gardens and noteworthy red sandstone carving in the Haveli that adds more oomph to the experience of living here.

Gorging on scrumptious homemade food, sleeping and lounging on period furniture and enjoying the company of parrots and peacocks will be a regular aspect of your stay here.

What else? In this village homestay, you will acquaint yourself with the traditional Rajasthani customs, dine under the stars and will enjoy the best of Rajasthani performing arts. If this isn’t one strong reason to visit Chandelao Village, we do not know what is?

The treasure trove of art and craft!

Do you have an eye for traditional art and craft? Then, visiting Chandelao Village will be the best thing you sign up for on your trip to Rajasthan.

Besides being authentic to the region, the craft of this village comes in a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns. Made with intricacy, the beauty of it never ceases to surprise travellers. However, what is more remarkable is the fact that the craft domain is single-handedly ruled by women of the region.

In a society where men are the sole, breadwinner, to see these women work passionately, even behind the veils of modesty adds more value to a trip here.

In Sundar Rang, you will find all sorts of handmade goods, from accessories to clothes and even upholstery. We guarantee you that once you are inside the exhibition huts here, you will end up buying a plethora of souvenirs for your family and friends.

Quite frankly, we highly recommend you to do so. Because while you are purchasing the most authentic Rajasthani goods here, you are helping these women to stay on their two feet, which itself is very noble.

Come here for handcrafted goods and wholesome interactions with the village women. If that isn’t enough to lure you here, let us tell you that while you are at it, you can even take lessons on Rajasthani embroidery, weaving and beadwork. Sounds like a fair deal, doesn’t it?

Textile Shopping at Pipar Bazaar

Roll call for all the shopaholics out there!

Are you a textile enthusiast? Then it’s only right to wander the streets of Chandelao to visit the cultural paradise – Pipar/Pipad Bazaar.

Interwoven in the fabric of this market is its legacy of rich textile crafts like hand-block printing and natural dyeing. All of which has been preserved and passed down from generation to generation.

Pipar and its people are full of life, and you will see the essence of it in their vibrant prints as well. Do you know that each piece that is crafted here is handmade and unique?

Not only this, if you are interested in seeing the process of hand block printing live in action, it is possible in this very village.

What all you can get here, you ask? Locally handcrafted curtains, pillow covers, mandalas, and other souvenir-worthy stuff that you would love to display in your home. Also, if you have a knack for handmade goods and one of a kind clothing items, then we highly recommend you to visit this village.

A Tryst with Nature

Another beguiling reason to visit Chandelao village is for its bounty of nature.

This hamlet is blessed with nature’s very best, making its bird watching scene exceptional in all of Rajasthan.

If you are an outdoorsy nature lover with an inclination towards birds, do visit Chandelao Village in the winter months.

During these months, Chandelao area is a paradise for birdwatchers. Even a walk around the village is enough to yield sightings of parakeets, bulbuls and other indigenous birds.

However, if your appetite for nature is larger than life, taking a trip to the nearby Olvi Lake is highly recommended. Why? Well primarily because it provides for a fantastic setting for waterfowls, herons, kingfishers and other birds. And secondly, because there is no other setting that can offer you the solace it does.

Just imagine sitting by the lake with a hot cup of tea; enjoying the cacophony of chirping birds against the backdrop of an orange streaked sky. Sounds Beautiful, doesn’t it? We guessed so!

Touch of Ayurveda

Is exploring ways to improve your wellness whilst relaxing your brain cells your goal for your next vacation? Then, we are sure you will love the Ayurveda services at Chandelao Garh.

Developed in India over 3000 years ago, Ayurveda is one of the oldest healing systems in the world.

Interestingly this village is in close proximity to other craftsman villages, making it the ultimate focal point for a fantastic village tour.

By staying at Chandelao you will have access to the Shepherd’s, potter’s, durry-maker’s and even the famous Bishnoi Village.

Believe us when we say that there is nothing quite like touring these villages. That is mostly because you get to take away experiences like trying your hand on potter’s wheels or weaving a few lines in a durry. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?

Catch a camel …ride

How do you feel about learning the basics of camelback riding? Would you like to add this experience to your travel bucket list?

Then, there it is! Another reason for you to add Chandelao Village to your bucket list.

Let us get into the details, shall we?

Not that far away from Chandelao is the camel herder’s village. It is here you will learn all about camels, and how they are raised in this part of the world.

Fancy some camel riding adventures? Then, hop on a camel, learn the basics and enjoy your wobbly ride back to the resort here. If you like, you can even choose a longer route to make most out of this experience.

Did that intrigue you? So, we will see you in Chandelao soon, won’t we?

A walk to remember

Living in closely-knit communities is the essence of rural life. It is probably what makes the village dynamics far more intriguing for travellers around the globe. And who could be a better teacher in this domain than the pioneer of community-based tourism – Chandelao Village itself.

Walk through a typical Western Rajasthan village which is still caught in a time capsule. See artisans mastering their craft while you interact with the local kids about their life. Watch animals graze in the fields, and people enjoy the little treasures of life.

While you are at it, greet everyone you meet with a smile, and you might even be invited to a household for a steaming hot cup of tea.

Believe us; finding pleasures in small things is an art that only villages like Chandelao Village can teach you. So, if you haven’t already made up your mind to visit it, we would like you to reconsider.
