A sharp but necessary contrast follows at Raj Ghat, the peaceful and solemn memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. Today, we leave Delhi behind and embark on a smooth 3 - 4 hour drive to Agra, the city of the magnificent Taj Mahal. Upon arrival, you will check into your centrally located accommodation, the Oberoi Amar Vilas..

The afternoon is dedicated to exploring the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the spiritual heart of the Mughal Empire. 

We then dive deep into the local markets. First, the Kinari Bazaar, famous for its exquisite marble inlay crafts, is a skill passed down through generations of artisans. Followed by a stop at Sadar Bazaar to sample petha, Agra's signature translucent sweet.

We rise before dawn for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. Witnessing this breathtaking monument, a peerless symbol of eternal love, as the marble subtly shifts colour with the rising sun is an unforgettable experience.

Following the main visit, we move to the serene Mehtab Bagh, a historic Persian-style garden providing tranquil and picturesque views of the mausoleum from across the Yamuna River. Our morning concludes with a stop at Itmad-ud-Daulah’s Tomb, affectionately dubbed the “Baby Taj” for its delicate marble work and pietra dura detailing, a wonderful contrast to the grandeur of its neighbour.
